Staten Island Job seekers gathered at the St. George Library, Staten Island, to gain valuable advice on creating and improving their Linked In Profile from social media expert, Marilyn Zayfert of Illuminet Digital Marketing. The seminar, “Take Your Linked In Profile to the Next Level” , was part of a series of free career seminars offered by Staten Island Community Partnership’s Suit Up Network Program, aimed at assisting career-minded and unemployed Staten Islanders.
Landing a job and building a career is no easy task. The Internet and Social media, especially, Linked In, has changed how many employers recruit new employees. Ms Zayfert emphasized the importance of taking the time to build an accurate and appealing Linked In profile. Participants were advised on how to select the best keywords and find the relevant networks for your specific career goals and interests.
The next Suit Up Network Career Seminar is titled, Get Yourself Noticed- Build Your Brand and Your Resume to Land a Great Job. It will be held on Tuesday, July 22nd from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at the St. George Library, 5 Central Avenue, Staten Island, NY . The Staten Island Community Partnership’s Suit Up Network Career series will resume in the fall at the St. George Library.

Suit Up Network offers free business suits to unemployed youth, men and women in need, residing on Staten Island. Career development services such as resume assistance, interview practice and mentoring is available. Volunteers from all walks of life are needed to encourage job seekers to move forward, overcome obstacles and share advice.
