What Neighborhood is the BEST on Staten Island to Trick or Treat? Port Richmond, of course, with Decker Avenue and its surrounding streets!
Join us on Halloween, Friday, October 31st offering the first annual Port Richmond Spirit of Halloween event, with a home decorating contest, family friendly activities and a Children’s Treat Trail hosted by the Port Richmond Committee, Staten Island Community Partnership, New Direction Services, local churches and businesses.
The event promotes a safe and fun Halloween in Port Richmond and includes any home or business within the boundaries of the contest. Prizes for home decorating will be awarded in categories such as, Scariest, Most Original & People’s Favorite. The public will decide the winners and voting by email and on the website of Staten Island Community Partnership, beginning on Friday, October 25th. Signage will designate Contest participants, activities and a Children ‘Treat Trail’ map will provide information on best homes & businesses to visit.
To register your home by October 20th for the Spirit of Halloween Home Decorating Contest and be eligible for prizes, the home or business must be located within the 10302 zip code. Homeowners or current resident of the specific home or building must provide consent and will be interviewed. Contestants must include their address and contact and a Committee member will follow up.
Each home participating in the contest will be listed on the Children’s ‘Treat Trail Map’ and agree to have a lawn sign to identify their home as participating in the contest.
All participants that receive votes will also be listed in on our website and pr materials.
Voting begins a week before Halloween on Friday, 9am October 25th until 9 p.m. October 31st, by email Info@SiCommunityPartnership.com or online at www.SiCommunityPartnership.com. The public can vote one time per day with a valid email or a maximum of 7 votes pet valid email .
Winners will be announced following the closing and counting of votes on October 31st. Official announcement will be announced on the SiCommunityPartnership.com. Prizes will be delivered no later than one week of announcement of winners.
New Direction Services & S.I. Community Partnership will provide healthy snacks to all trick a treaters and be located at the corner of Decker Avenue and Post at Washington Place. Children’s Treat Trail Maps will be available at this location.
Both, Port Richmond Committee Co-Chairs, Wendy DeShong of New Direction Services and Angela D’Aiuto Staten Island Community Partnership live in the Port Richmond and are active members of the organization, which serves as a civic and community engagement group. Creating a safe and community oriented event is the goal of this program with local businesses working with the community.
