Staten Island Culinary Works Program tackles hunger and employment throughout Staten Island. We have provided approximately 4,000 healthy and fresh meals to low income seniors, since the beginning of 2014. Our hospitality service is like a friendly neighborhood cafe with a fresh and delicious menu in partnership with Staten Island’s healthy food pantry, New Direction Services.

We tackle the problem of food insecurity with a unique inter-generational initiative. The program’s participants are youth and active seniors, of whom gain employment skills, along with developing team building and leadership skills.

IMG_8394S.I. Culinary works provides access to quality food. We prepare ‘real’, whole, food (not processed), which is healthy and flavorful, to low income seniors and families throughout Staten Island. Many low income seniors can’t afford to purchase or have the ability to prepare fresh produce and opt for cheaper canned items or processed foods. Many food pantries do not provide the freshest or healthiest choices. Just because you have a fixed and low income, doesn’t mean you must eat expired meat and dairy; or high sodium canned and processed food.
