On November 21, 2013. Suit Up Network program “fitted and styled” 12 female clients from Rescare’s Jobs Plus Program at their office , located at 30 Bay Street, Staten Island, New York. Staten Island Community Partnership, Inc. is excited to partner with Rescare and offer additional resources to get Staten Islanders back to work. The Suit Up Network program provided business clothing and mock interviews to unemployed clients enrolled in Rescare’s Jobs Plus program, a back to work program for unemployed individuals on public assistance.
Suit Up volunteers provided one-on-one styling to clients, which aims to emulate service one would experience at a specialty clothing boutique. Suit Up volunteer, Diane Malagreca of Coldwell Banker DeTommasso, a Realtor and Associate Broker, described the clients as “very appreciative” and the experience as “enjoyable to share one’s career experience with someone starting a career”. Newly employed clients from Rescare will be invited to join Suit Up’s Moving Forward Mentoring Program which focuses on how to maintain a job, as well as, living a healthy lifestyle with wellness classes.
Currently winter coats, office appropriate shoes and winter boots (new and like-new condition) are needed to assist clients going on job interviews and/or starting a new job on a limited budget. A variety of business/office appropriate clothing is always needed to replenish our inventory and provided additional clothing to unemployed and newly employed individuals with a financial need.
On December 5th, the Suit Up Network will be providing the same services to a group of Rescare’s male clients. If you would like to volunteer at this event or future “fittings” please contact us at Info@SiCommunityPartnership.com or contact us at 347-746-9391. Monetary donations are welcome to support the free services we provide to unemployed men, women and youth, encluding individuals negatively impacted by Superstorm Sandy.
